Privacy Policy

Overview

Sayscroll.com (“we”, “us”) from BOOTHIC SMPC is a browser-based teleprompter that scrolls as you speak. We built it to collect as little data as possible: your scripts never leave your device, we keep no database of our own, and we don’t store recordings or transcripts of anything you say. This policy explains what data is processed, by whom, and why.

Your scripts

The text you paste or type into the teleprompter stays in your browser. Scripts are never uploaded to, stored on, or readable by our servers.

Microphone audio

While the teleprompter is actively listening, your microphone audio is streamed in real time to our speech-recognition provider, , which transcribes it so the prompter can follow your voice. Audio is only streamed while the microphone indicator is on — it pauses automatically after 15 seconds of silence and stops when you finish your script or leave presentation mode. We do not record, store, or replay your audio or its transcription; both exist only for the duration of the live session.

Account information

You can use the free teleprompter without an account. If you sign up, authentication is handled by Clerk, which stores your email address, name, and optional profile picture on our behalf. We use this only to operate your account and link it to your subscription.

Billing and usage metering

Payments and subscriptions are processed by Polar, our merchant of record. We never see or store your card details. To meter your monthly speech time, we send Polar small usage events — the number of seconds the microphone was active, linked to your account. No audio, transcript, or script content is ever included in these events.

Technical data

Like virtually every website, our hosting provider (Vercel) keeps standard server logs — IP address, browser user agent, and requested pages — for security and debugging.

Analytics and advertising

With your consent, we use Google Analytics 4 and Google Ads, loaded through Google Tag Manager, to understand how the site is used and to measure our advertising. These services may set cookies and process usage data such as the pages you view, approximate location, device and browser information, and (for Google Ads) ad interactions.

None of this loads until you accept in the cookie banner. We use Google Consent Mode v2, so before you choose — and if you decline — analytics and advertising storage stay disabled. You can change or withdraw your choice at any time from the cookie settings. We never send your scripts, microphone audio, or transcripts to these services.

Third-party services

These are the only services that process data for us:

• Redialog — real-time speech recognition (live audio, not stored)
• Clerk — sign-in and account storage (email, name, profile picture)
• Polar — payments, subscriptions, and usage metering (billing details, usage seconds)
• Vercel — hosting and server logs
• Google — analytics (Google Analytics 4) and advertising (Google Ads), via Google Tag Manager, loaded only with your consent

Apart from the consent-based analytics and advertising described above, we do not sell or share your personal data with anyone else.

Cookies

We use cookies required for signing in (set by Clerk) and a small cookie that remembers your consent choice. If you accept analytics and advertising in the cookie banner, Google Analytics and Google Ads also set cookies; if you decline, they are not set. You can review or change your choice at any time from the cookie settings.

Data retention and deletion

We keep no database of our own — your account data lives with Clerk and your billing history with Polar. If you delete your account, the data Clerk holds for us is deleted; billing records are retained by Polar as required for tax and accounting purposes. Your rights

Depending on where you live (including under the GDPR if you are in the EU/EEA), you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data, and to object to or restrict its processing. Contact us at the email below and we will help.

Children

The service is not directed at children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we will update this page and the “last updated” date above. Material changes will be communicated to subscribers by email.
