Recognition targets Standard German (Hochdeutsch) as spoken with any regional accent. Full dialect — Bairisch, Schwiizerdütsch, Plattdeutsch — is a different matter; the honest guidance is below.

Compound nouns and English inside German
German builds words like "Spracherkennungssoftware" and "Videoaufnahmefunktion". The recogniser transcribes them as single words, which is exactly how the script has them, and a slightly different transcription of the tail still lands. English loanwords — "das Meeting", "der Content", "downloaden" — are transcribed as you say them and matched in place.

Spelling that mirrors speech tracks better than formal written German.
- Numbers as words: "zweitausendsechsundzwanzig", "fünfzehn Prozent".
- Umlauts are ignored for matching ("schon" and "schön" behave the same); keep them for readability. Write ß or ss the way you are used to; either lands.
- Abbreviations as spoken: "zum Beispiel" not "z. B."; "A-D-A-C" spelled, "NATO" as a word.
- Hyphenate an unfamiliar compound ("Video-Aufnahme-Funktion") if it helps you read it at a glance — it tracks either way.
- Short lines, one idea each, so the active word stays near the lens.
